The pattern is holding
Referrals are coming in today and it looks like there weren't any expedited referrals in the batch. It is what was expected but still a little disheartening. If this pattern continues, the July 2006 expedited group will receive their referrals next month in October and the August 2006 expedited group will receive their referrals in December. Since our LID is August 9, 2006 we are now looking at a referral as late as December. This is a far cry from what we thought it would be when we started the process in March 2006. We have already waited 13 months from LID and still have another 3 to go. We are still hoping and praying that things speed up but if they don't we will continue to trust in God that he has our child in His care.
Regular referrals are approaching the 2 yr mark. The referrals that came in today only went as far as the Nov 25, 2005 LID. To put it in perspective, 2005 is the year we brought Kathryn home! CCAA and the agencies are now telling prospective adoptive parents to expect a 3 year wait between LID and referral.
It also looks like the age difference between Kathryn and her sibling will be greater than we wanted or hoped for. Not only is the length of the wait increasing the age difference but CCAA is referring more babies at a much younger age. There could be a full 3 year age difference if not a 3 1/2 year difference by the time this is over. We are thrilled that we could get a much younger baby but a little sad that they won't be closer in age.
