Notes about Kimberly
Now that we have spent some time with Kimberly, here is what we have observed:
She is very reserved and unsure of what has happened to her. For the first 24 hours she cried whenever she was put down. She had to be held all the time and only by Mom. If Dad got too close, she cried. However she seems to really be comfortable with Mom and just like Kathryn, she fell asleep in Mom's arms on the ride back to the hotel after Gotcha.
She also likes her big sister.
We have discovered that she will let Daddy hold her in the snuggly if she is facing outward. He is also allowed to push her in the stroller. Occasionally she has allowed him to hold her in his arms so there has been progress.
Last night we had a bit of a breakthrough in that she finally sat on the floor and showed us that she could crawl. She also stood up in her crib, while holding on to the sides, and babbled a little bit. She is much happier after she has eaten.
Kimberly doesn't have any teeth yet but there are a couple that could break through soon. We have rubbed some numbing gel on her gums but she doesn't like it. However, we think it does make eating more comfortable for her. This is a first for us since Kathryn already had 4 teeth when we got her.
We are still trying to figure out her natural schedule which is very difficult when you have to keep appointments regardless if it's naptime or feeding time. The orphanage nanny gave us the "official" schedule but we are observing that it may not be what works best. It's our opinion that she will do better with a schedule more like Kathryn had. We are going to try it today since we have the whole day to ourselves.
We are definitely going to do some shopping today and may even try out the swimming pool. We haven't done that yet because of Kathryn's cold. Kathryn is doing really well with Kimberly and all the changes that have happened. She hasn't even minded staying in the hotel room in the evenings. Of course the hotel room is actually two rooms; a living room and a bedroom so there's plenty of room for her to play. We are going to try and get pictures and video of the hotel room today, with all it's mess of toys and baby supplies. :)
