We're here!

It was a long grueling trip! We left our house at 10am on Monday morning and turned out the lights in our hotel at Midnight Tuesday (China Time), which was about 8am Tuesday. We had been travelling for 22 hours and if you count when we woke up, we had been awake for 25 hours. Kathryn is constantly amazing me but yesterday she outdid herself. She managed 3 naps of about 30 minutes each and was awake the rest of the time. She was happy and excited the entire time. I'm so proud of her!!

It turns out that there was a problem with our room reservation: they were out of suites! They didn't even let our travel agency know until Monday. We had already paid and we really needed the space. Our guide, Simon, was wonderful and worked to get us an upgrade to an Executive Suite for just a little more money. It has a bedroom with large bath (separate deep tub and shower) and a living area with a couch and a "powder room" (1/2 bath). They could move us to our original suite choice in 4 days but I think we will probably stay here because we will be too entrenched with our belongings to make moving rooms easy.

Simon told us that we will be getting Kimberly at 2:30pm tomorrow (Thursday). That's 10:30pm Wednesday night Seattle time. It's already Wednesday here. What a funny thing the international date line is!

We have some prayer requests: the major one is that Kathryn seems to have caught a cold! I'm hoping it goes away quickly and that it won't become a problem. We even had to declare her snivels to the quarantine officer when we entered China. He asked very seriously is she was over them and we said yes because we thought it was because she had cried on the plane for a little bit but it's obvious this morning that she has a runny nose and is a little stuffy. She will probably get Benadryl tonight to help dry her up and give us an added bonus of helping her sleep which will help with the jet lag.

The other is that we all adjust quickly so that we can enjoy getting Kimberly. We woke up very early this morning despite being exhausted and getting to bed late. We will all take a nap this afternoon.

We are in the process of getting ready for the day and are about to go downstairs to the magnificent breakfast buffet. Yum!!

We will update more later!
